LA1: Understanding The Purpose Of Diegetic and Non Diegetic Sound

Image
• DIEGETIC SOUND • This exists ‘inside’ the story and can be heard by the characters • Speech - The sound of traffic - Gun shots.    Diegetic   sound   is a noise which has a source on-screen. They are noises which  have not been edited in, for example dialogue between characters or footsteps. Another term for diegetic sound is actual sound. Non-diegetic sound  is a noise which   does not   have a source on-screen, they have been added in. For example music, voiceover, sound effects. Non-diegetic sounds are often used to add drama to moments that would be silent without it. https://www.mytutor.co.uk/answers/1621/GCSE/Media-Studies/What-is-the-difference-between-Diegetic-and-Non-diegetic-sound/ From about 50 seconds in is where the music starts to play. LA1: Use research methods to gather material: proposals

What is a proposal? A proposal within the media is a document that you present to your prospective client outlining how you can help them achieve their goals. A proposal is neither a pitch or a contract, but it is a key part of the client acquisition process that converts a prospect into a customer. A proposal is for you to attract key cast and crew - the more experienced cast and crew you sign, the more likely you will get your film produced. ( Taken from https://www.filmdaily.tv/funding/how-write-film-proposals-gets-film-fundung ) What is included in a film proposal? The right introduction/synopsis is critical since it's the first thing you read, and shows how passionate the creator is about the project. The introduction passes as a first impression, so if the cast and crew of the film don't like the script it sets a bad first impression. A good script is the next thing included which links to the next important thing - the Log-line. Your log-line is you telling someo...

LA1: use research methods to gather material: storyboards.

Image
What are storyboards? A storyboard is a sequence of sketches or illustrations that  map out the scenes planned for a video. The video production team can then follow this map to ensure their plot is engaging before they start making the video. A storyboard is an essential component of production to avoid any unnecessary costs or delays. ( Taken from https://www.wyzowl.com/what-is-a-storyboard/ ) Creating a storyboard simplifies every stage of making a video. It lets you plan more effectively, pitch your idea to other people more clearly and avoid problems during production. Storyboards can be either simple or complex and are usually hand drawn. A storyboard is similar to a script, but the two aren't quite the same - storyboards are visual, while scripts are text based.
